Infrared Spectral Emittance Measurements of Optical Materials

Optical properties of solids are usually determined by measurements of either the transmittance or the reflectance. Each of these methods has advantages and disadvantages, depending upon the spectral region and the nature of the material being studied. A third method, the measurement of emittance, although little used has definite advantages under certain conditions. © 1966 Optical Society of America.
