Formation and Bleaching of X-ray induced F-centers in CaF2

J. Arends

Results are presented on the formation and optical bleaching of X-ray induced F-centers in CaF2 at liquid nitrogen temperature. The data indicate that the F-center vacancies are created by the irradiation. After optical bleaching the vacancies can easily be refilled with electrons. A possible model for the absorption band at 225 nm is discussed. © 1968.
